How does Conveyor Pulley Work

Belt pulley, which can be of the drum-or roller-type, are the most common simple machines used to drive the belt of most conveyor systems.

Because of its wide use, manufacturers have made improvements for better system performance and life. One of these conveyors is the pulley of the Crown. The pulleys are tubular drums that are used to drive a belt conveyor system. The drive pulley is connected to an engine that therefore transmits the torque required to steer the conveyor belt. As a result, the conveyor belt moves along the way. However, because of its mechanism, the problem common to most conveyor pulleys is the tendency of the conveyor belt to move laterally or away from his supposed track. When this happens, the belt is exposed to excessive wear as it rubs against the frame stock and indeed, it is rapidly deteriorating. In addition, the friction rub causes, which, in turn, the results of the training load of the engine and increased power consumption too. That's where the crowned pulleys help. They are installed to ensure that the belt pulley is on track and not drift sideways.

Whether it is conical or trapezoidal, crowned pulleys consist of a drive pulley with a diameter of center that is slightly longer than the ends. The difference in diameter causes the belt to fix the constant movement back on its track, as it tends to move away. The disadvantage, however, is cost. The material itself and the machining process leads to a bit expensive. At present, the heavy metal is used for the tube wall of the crown. And during the machining process, significant portions of the material unusable are wasted. As the conveyor belt, drive pulley tends to slide. This has led manufacturers to develop drive pulleys with smaller diameters. But because the diameter is smaller, there is less surface contact with the conveyor belt. This, in turn, causes the transmission of torque limited. To solve this problem, engineers thought the molding of rubber or some synthetic materials on the surface of the drive pulley increases adhesion and, in fact, the torque transmission. The rubber coating is what they call behind.

Train provides the traction needed for the pulley to work more efficiently. Rubber material is compounded and applied to the pulley. Manufacturers do vulcanized lagging in different degrees of hardness according to customer specifications in any size or length. There are different models to choose from - plain ceramic crown, herringbone patterns and groove. However, this can be expensive. The process to put the rubber on the roller and the material itself is relatively high in cost. There is a cheaper alternative to the train, which consists of wrapping behind. The result is an effect of crown on the pulley. The disadvantage of this type of delay is the effect of stretching of the Belt pulley,.
